04/07/16 day 5: Kappelrodeck, DE

Up around 9am. Had a decent nights sleep. Could've been better but I shared a room with Alex and his snoring. Apparently, the Apple doesn't fall far from the tree... Breakfast was fairly righteous; really nice spread of some classic German fare.

Peter and I continued our exercise plan, which felt surprisingly good. 30 minutes of body weight exercises intended to kick your ass (among other things).

After the work out our friend Ralf showed us around Tübingen which is an awesome little city on the Necker River. Dig if you will...
Pano view of the Marktplatz
View from the castle

After a nice long walk about we hit a great Döner joint and introduced Alex to the magic.
Game changer...he will never be the same.

Said our goodbyes to Ralf and hit the road to Kappelrodeck which took us west through the northern tip of the Black Forest. Beautiful serpentine drive along the hill tops over looking tiled roof villages nestled in the valleys below. Temps dropped to just above freezing as we bombed through pine trees and remnants of serious snow fall on the ground. We arrived in the small town of Kappelrodeck around 4:30 with vineyards flanking our sides. Super picturesque little scene.

Our venue Vaya Casa is a gem. It's hard to explain but it's part medieval castle, Spanish casita, and music venue. Pictures don't really do it justice either. It's an old open roof barn that sleeps 11 with exquisite woodwork. It's rather stunning. The stage was set and the PA was fantastic with our new friend Matthias behind the console.

After our set the owner got on stage with tears in his eyes and explained how much the music meant to him and his wife and emplored the audience to tell their friends about us. It was so heartfelt and genuine.

As with many gigs, we were treated to some house specialties in the schnapps variety. Got a bottle for home. Such a treat. Another amazing night for the books.
