11/6/15 day 7: Wolfach, DE

Breakfast at the hotel and then on the road around 11:30. Short drive today to Wolfach which took us through some beautiful scenery in the Black Forest. Old growth forests, hair pin turns and small towns nestled in valleys. One such valley with a slow and shallow brook is Wolfach. We found our venue/hotel and decided to explore the town a little and find some lunch.

Wolfach is really picturesque. The small downtown area is cobblestoned with Bechle, which is like a sort of water gutter that I thought only existed in Freiburg. The downtown area had numerous little hotels with restaurant patios. We opted for Döner, which are typically the only restaurants open for lunch oddly enough. Spirits were high.
We walked around a little and popped into some shops and made the 7 min trip back to our venue which is a beautifully restored 450 year old farm house owned and operated by Joachim and Sybille with their two sons Rafael and Dominik. Normally it is a wedding venue but they also do 20 concerts a year in the bottom floor of the house which used to house the cows. Oh man, this place was magic!

We all had our own sleeping quarters. I was in an old storage barn and Clint was in the old chicken coop. We were immediately invited to cake and coffee upstairs. Mom, don't worry, I asked for the recipe...
After that I powered down for a nap and then at 6 we loaded in and sound checked. Played to a great crowd, 48 beautiful Germans who clapped along and sang Ooh La La. Probably the best sounding show we've had so far. The PA was righteous and probably our best performance yet. Vocals were strong, barring the infamous bug eating incident that Jeff had to work through mid "Easy."
After the performance we had snacks and fresh bread and of course, local Schnapps. Another righteous spread and hang/jam session that lasted into the wee hours.
This one will be hard to beat. All around some of the best... Goodnight from Wolfach.
