10/14/14 day 7: Aulendorf, DE

Up at 930 for a 10am departure from the artist apartment above the Blue Note. We had a long drive today (6.5 hrs) and didt even have time for coffee or a schoko-croissant... Sad times.

Arrived in Aulendorf at about 4:30. Everyone was a little fried out. Jeff did the lions share of the drive while peter and I quietly nodded off to dream land or 'traumland' as they say.

Tommy our friend and booking agent for the gig rolled up about 530, as did our friend from München Sabine. We all sat done and had homemade pumpkin soup and little grilled cheese sandiwiches with bacon.

After a quick soundcheck, the opening act arrived; this local one man band dude named Earl. He was a trip. Sounded like a cross between Bob Dylan and JJ Cale. He stomped on guitar body with one foot, played the tambourine with his right foot, played a 12 string guitar, and the harp. The tambourine had a Birkenstock glued to the top, so he slipped off his one shoe before he played.. Only in Germany. The highlight of the set was a 5 min blues harp odyssey that put my jaw on the floor. It was amazing. He played the harp with his nose and then at one point put the whole thing in his mouth... I can't even explain it.

We had a real groovy set.  We've been playing one of Peter's solo tunes for the last few days so he jumps on the guitar, Jeff on the bass, and I get to play cajon. So much fun and it's sounding really great and getting a great response. Nice to be traveling with such talented multi-instrumenatalists. Another great night in the books!
