5/9/12 day 14: Malaga, Spain

Shortly after lunch, Chris and I headed out to check out the city. We were immediately impressed with the water front. It all looked brand new: the shops and the landscaping and the water features. We later learned it had been finished just a couple months ago. It was really impressive and clea. I wonder if the locals even know its open. It was kind of desserted.

We got a map at a tourist info booth and drew out a route that hit all the major sites, their names and historical importance I have since forgotten. We walked around the pedestrian area which was spotless and all tiled. It was a web of squares with fountains and statues with little shops, cafes, connected by small walkways. You could see a bunch of different architectural influences. The weather was beautiful too. We went past the bull fighting stadium and down towards the beach. Walked past a cat grilling fish over a fire and a cafe right on the sand serving coffee and cold drinks. Oh, and the women were topless. Viva Espana!

I played a super short instrumental set as the passengers returned to the shop and then played a couple hours. It was quiet in the club where I play. I was able to dust off some covers and even had some requests for originals. Just another day in paradise.
