4/09/13 day 8: Copenhagen, Denmark

Sterling blue skies again today. However, a bit windier than yesterday. People are still out in full force; walking to shops, biking to work, all the normal stuff people do in a major city. In fact, there was some sort of concert this morning out in the cold. I did not envy the acoustic guitar player in the bunch.

More exploring of the downtown area today. The pub feeds me a meal a day, so I usually start there with a cup of coffee and continue reading of the second Game of Thrones book. Then order a little lunch. Today it was beef stew and fries. A far cry from the green drinks I've been having in Phx with Kim but comforting in another way. Seeing the sights of the city through the lens of Game of Thrones makes for an interesting walk. It's easy to imagine this place in the same setting. You see it all around you; statues of warriors with axes and braided beards, the bold and cleft Danish flag flapping proudly on the top of green spires, winding cobblestone alleys...

And now I've made my way over to Cafe Retro which is where I will be playing on Thursday night. Having tea in this very comfortable little non-profit cafe/acoustic music venue. There is a huge hearth in the middle of the mini 'great room.' Mismatched antique chairs and low tables create small alcoves all around. The second floor is like a balcony looking down. Huge wooden support beams are exposed. This is like a little medieval coffee shop. It's nice and cozy and they don't play "whiskey in the jar!" I expect to turn around and see Tyrion chatting with Varys... Oh snap! Nerd alert!!

After a long overdue productive FaceTime with Kim (ain't technology great?!), I headed back to the pub for the sets. Another solid and fun night. Thank you Copenhagen!
