4/22/13 day 21: Neuruppin, Germany

Up and out of the hotel at 11 today. Our plan was to drive to Berlin, park by the main train station downtown, and from there walk over to the Reichstag and pick up a hop-on-hop-off tour bus. The weather was nice; partly cloudy but sunny for the most part. We sat up on the upper deck of the open air bus and took it all in. We went all over town, which was money well spent. There is so much to see in Berlin I wasn't up for being the tour guide. This was the best solution. Started at the Reichstag, past Siegessäule, KaDeWe, past Check Point Charlie, over to Alexanderplatz for Currywurst and Pommes (rot/Weiss of course), Museen Insel, Unter den Linden to Brandenburger Tor and the monument for the victims of the Holocaust. Of course, there was much to see in between, but we got a good sense of former East Berlin as well as a lot of the big touristy spots in West Berlin. We finished the day with a beer on the banks for the river Spree. We were back at the hotel in Neuruppin by about 8 and back in the spa for more sauna and steam room. Great day. Long day.

We sat on the balcony of Jeff's room at the very end and ate our sandwiches overlooking the See. By then it was dark and chilly, so we didn't last too long. Went to bed partly mourning the fact that tmrw we had to move on to Marburg, the other part glad to have a full week of music planned. Tomorrow is the longest drive of the tour; 5 hours. Gute Nacht!
