4/24/13 day 23: Baienfort, Germany

Another long drive today... After taking the morning to do laundry and walk around the city, we hit the road around noon. Marburg is definitely a place I will come back to. So beautiful.

Arrived in Baienfort around 5:30. We hit some traffic around Karlsruhe, Stuttgart and Ulm but otherwise made good time. We pass the time w the ipod and Danish language lessons. I can tell you in Danish that "i am american" "where is HC Anderson boulevard?" and "i would like something to eat."

We were deep in farm country when we came upon Hof Theater. Hof Theater is an old barn converted into a music/performance venue. The vibe was tangible as soon as we rolled up. Tommy, our host and one of the owners of the establishment, greeted us when we arrived. He showed us around the property and then invited us to dinner at the restaurant attached to the venue. The menu was full of local flavors and southwest specialties. Talk about farm to table... the distance between the two is about 20 yards. Dinner was off the charts (Beef Bourguignon) as well the local beer (Landzüngle). It was tough to tear us away from the beer garden when it was time to get ready but we reluctantly made our way to the green room to warm up our voices and go over the set list just as the sun was setting over the hills. It was a stunning exit.

The show was one of our best; bilingual stories flowed, performance was on point, and crowd participation and appreciation was at a high level. It felt amazing, relaxed, elated... Two encores!? Unprecedented... We rolled out "Been Too Good" and I did a solo version of "Here Comes The Sun."

At the end of the show, Chef Chris shared w us a bottle of his home made, original recipe hazelnut schnapps that tastes like liquid Nutella. If there is any left at the end of the tour, we are going to split it up into three smaller bottles and bring it home. If u are lucky, I'll share it with u...

It's gonna be tough to top tonight, but there are still three shows!! Spirits are high. Gute Nacht leute!

The pic L to R is chef Chris, server, Uli (one of the owners), chef's mom, Peter, Jeff, Tommy, and chef's dad. Good crew!
